# Free-trial end reminder

Tell it when the trial started and how long it lasts, choose how many days' warning you want, and download a calendar file that nudges you before the first payment.

## How the reminder works

Fill in the start date and the trial length, or type the end date straight in: the other field follows. The file holds a calendar event at your chosen time on the day the trial ends, with an alarm the number of days before that you picked. It follows the iCalendar standard, [RFC 5545](https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc5545), which Apple Calendar, Outlook, Google Calendar and most other calendar apps read.

Open the downloaded file to add it on a phone or Mac, or import it: in Google Calendar on the web that is Settings, then Import & export (see [Google's import help](https://support.google.com/calendar/answer/37118)). Some apps ignore alarms in imported files and use your default notifications instead, which is why a second event on the reminder day itself is switched on by default.

Trials do not always end at midnight: some services charge at the hour you signed up. A reminder two or three days early leaves room to cancel calmly. The file is made in your browser and nothing you type is sent anywhere.

## Questions

**Does this page need to stay open for the reminder?**

No. Once the file is in your calendar, your calendar app shows the alert. You can close the page.

**What if my calendar shows no alert?**

Keep the reminder-day event switched on, or open the event in your calendar and add an alert by hand.

**How do I find out when my trial ends?**

Look in the sign-up confirmation email or the billing section of your account. If it only gives a length, count from the day you signed up.
